New Summer Movies

There are lots of new movies coming out this summer. So I thought I would tell you what the good ones are about. Or at least what I think they are, because I haven't actually seen them yet.

[Joe's Apartment] - This movie looks kind of stupid, but interesting enough to see. Who still believes in dancing cockroaches anyway?? But still it does look kind of funny. It's about a guy who moves into an apartment infested with talking roaches. Almost everybody knows it came out on July 26th, because MTV kept replaying commercials and specials, and so much other crap on it.

[Basquiat] - Courtney Love has a bit part in this movie. It's about the artist Jean Micheal Basquiat, and how he became one of the first famous black artists. It's definately worth seeing. Of course lot's of people are going to be seeing it just for Courtney love, but it looks pretty good.

[Trainspotting] - On the commercial for this they make it seem all happy and about some con artists. What it's really about is a group of heroin users. And I heard it explains in great detail what people's lives are like when they are on the drug. I think it first came out in England, but they had to tone it down for American audiences, because our government uses censorship. They don't want anyone seeing things that will give them ideas. Censorship = bad.

[The Crow, City of Angels] - Who doesn't know about this movie, by now. I read in a magazine (I don't remember which one, but it was a horror movie one with a huge article on the Crow 2.) that it's not supposed to be Eric Draven coming back again. It's a new character who just happens to look exactly like Brandon Lee. And we're supposed to believe this is a coincidence?? I think not. Anyway, Sarah is somewhat grown up and there's a new gang of bad guys for the crow to kill.

Well this is getting long, so that's enough for now.

Poems

This was sent to me by HoLe1965, but it was written by Courtney Love.

how conceit is a pejorative
how i miss having a stage
mother, canopy bed & mary janes,
how yr innerchild is somehow
stupid and the narcissism involved
with it is like an embarrassing
haircut
Moms watching their sons
Looking wasted and lost on MTV
not tears but with joy and triumph.
Maximum Rock and Roll.
Better Homes and Gardens
What's the difference?

Courtney Love

Perfect

You're so different,
You're just like me.
Sustaining darkness,
Yet still quite pale.
You've had your share,
And so have I.
Letting me in,
Not afraid of the coming life.
You think of your future,
Struggling to forget your past.
Our thoughts are pleasant,
But not always good.
Knowing what you want,
No farther than that.
Find someone who seeks the same.

(C) Bo0 Berry

Forget

The unforgotten misery
Becoming almost a mystery
Looking beyond the heart
To find some sort of art
Compassion delivers anger
A feeling left to linger
Deliberately causing pain
Not much left to gain
Lashing out in terror
Reciting a forgotten prayer
Reminding me in ways
How I wish I'd forgotten those days.

Noon Walk on the Asylum Lawn, By Anne Sexton

The summer sun ray
shifts through a suspicious tree.
though I walk through the valley of the shadow
It sucks the air
and looks around for me.

The grass speaks.
I hear green chanting all day.
I will fear no evil, fear no evil
The blades extend
and reach my way.

The sky breaks.
It sags and breathes upon my face.
in the presence of mine enemies, mine enemies
The world is full of enemies.
There is no safe place

TV

[The Rosie O'Donnell Show]

This show is really funny. It's the best talk show that's on, because they don't have dumb people. It's on in the afternoon, but it's like a night time talk show. She has a monologue in the beginning and the last joke is taped to the desk (it get's kind of old sometimes, but it's cute). Rosie sings a lot of old songs from the 70's and commercials, and has a pretty bad voice. But she doesn't care what anyone else thinks. She also tells a lot of her political views, like who she'd vote for, stuff like that. Lately Donny Osmond has been the running joke, because he told her she was fat when he was on the show in June. (Note: On Entertainment Tonight he said it was ruining his career. What career??) This week he came back to apologize with flowers and everything. She made him dress up in a dog suit and sing "Puppy Love". Anyway this is a cool show, because she has good guests (I just don't recall who at the moment), and Rosie's funny. So watch it. I give it a ten.

Movies

[Phenomenon]

This movie has John Travolta and some skinny woman (I don't remember her name). It's about this guy who see's this light in the air. All of a sudden he's really smart, and he reads hundreds of books. He learns to speak several different languages and to interpret morse code. He's in love with the woman, but she doesn't want to go out with him. The end is pretty depressing, and the movie is kind of long. But still it was a nice idea. I give it a 7.

Books

[I'll Be Seeing You], By Mary Higgins Clark

I loved this book. This was definately one of her best. It's about a woman who's father dies, but they don't find his body. So they're not sure if he's dead. Then she sees the body of a girl that looks just like her and she gets into this whole mystery. With a strange pervert following her and this other guy that's in love with her. Her books always turn out differently than you expect, it's impossible to figure out the end, because there's lots of twists and turns in the plot. Anyway this book is really good, even better than Remember Me. I give it a 10.

Music

[Washing Machine], By Sonic Youth

This albums not really new, but oh well that doesn't matter. I really like the songs "Junkie's Promise"and "Becuz". "Little Trouble Girl" Is so cute. I can't get it out of my head, sometimes. I'd never heard Sonic Youth before this, but once I heard it I was hooked. If you like good music this is a must have. I saw them a couple weeks ago on The Conan O'Brian show and they rocked. I had to stay up all night to see it, but it was worth it. It didn't come on until like two o'clock, because the show was on later than usual (I don't really know why, but I'm sure you don't care). Anyway it's a definate 10.

Advice Column

1. How do you know when a relationship is really over?? When is it time to cut the cords and move on???

When things stay the same you should move on. Unless of course you like things to stay that way. But when nothing happens after a while you get bored. Then you're always looking at all the other chances you've had. But never took, because of this person. Another time would be when the bad times out number the good. If you're mad all the time, you'll grow to hate each other anyway. I guess the most obvious would be if the person left you. Then I guess there's not much else you can do.

2. I am going into high school this year and I am sorta fine with it, but there are some people there that I just know are going to harrass me all day long! How do I look forward to high school instead of being nervous???

"Even though I hated my high school itself, there are individual things that make it better....everyone has people that bug them of tease them or imitate them.. just ignore it. As long as you don't lose your cool and like haul off and hit the guy or something, you're still intact and ready to adventure the next day in high school hell.. high school has so many more things than jr. high, so just find your corner and enjoy what you can. To me, that meant hanging out with some theater groupies 24/7, but they were friends.. It'll be okay!(besides, I'm telling myself this cuz I'm moving away to college in 26 days!)" ~ SHIMELLE

Lyrics

[Misery Machine], By Marilyn Manson. Sent in by MrManson66

man in the front got a sinister grin careen down highway 666
we wanna go, crush the slow, as the pitchfork bends the needle grows
my arms are wheels, my legs are wheels, my blood is pavement
we're gonna ride to the abbey of thelma, to the abbey of thelma
blood is pavement
the grill in the front is my sinister grin, bugs in my teeth make me sick
sick sick
the objects may be larger than they appear in the mirror
my arms are wheels, my legs are wheels, my blood is pavement
we're gonna ride to the abbey of thelma, to the abbey of thelma
blood is pavement
"when you ride you're ridden, when you ride, you're ridden"
I am fueled by filth and fury
do what I will, i will hurry there, there
my arms are wheels, my legs are wheels, my blood is pavement
blood is pavement

[Happy Phantom], By Tori Amos

And if I die today I'll be the happy phantom
And I'll go chasing the nuns out in the yard
And I'll run naked through the streets without my mask on
And I will never need umbrellas in the rain
I'll wake up in strawberry fields everyday
And the atrocities of school I can forgive
The happy phantom has no right to bitch
oo who the time is getting closer
oo who time to be a ghost
oo who everyday we're getting closer
The sun is getting dim
Will we pay for who we've been
So if I die today I'll be the happy phantom
And I'll go wearin my naughties like a jewel
They'll be my ticket to the universal opera
There's Judy Garland taking Buddha by the hand
And then these seven little men get up to dance
they say Confucious does his crossword with a pen
I'm still the angel to a girl who hates to sin
Or will I see your dear and wish I could come back
You found a girl that you can truly love again
Will you still call for me when she falls asleep
Or do we soon forget the things we cannot see
