Vampires

Okay well somebody said it would be interesting to read some stuff about vampires, so here it is. Vampires in folklore don't look the same as they do in movies. There were vampires that seemed to be physical and there were phantom like vampires. Vampires are supposed to be the "risen dead" so they appeared in the same clothes they were buried in. Other characteristics were: a horrible odor, long fingernails and hair, sharp teeth, and eyes that glow with a supernatural, often red, light. Vampires primary powers were the ability to live off of human blood and they were very strong. Some have the ability to live a normal life again after they've died. Some people think that vampires can still have sex with living people, but it wasn't considered a desirable thing (unlike some movies portray. Personally I think it sounds kind of nasty).

There are four different kinds of vampires: Immortal blood drinkers (they live forever), Mortal blood drinkers (they don't live forever), Unintentional Psychic Vampires (they drain peoples energy, but not on purpose, they have to), and Intentional Psychic vampires (they drain people's energy on purpose). To kill vampires people would often have a "vampire hunt", killing them by driving the traditional stake through the heart or burning them. But you can't kill an unintentional psychic vampire. Things to keep vampires away: sharp objects, bad smelling things, objects of mystical power, distractions, mirrors. I found all this stuff in a book called [Vampires: The Occult Truth], by: Konstantinos. It has lots of interesting facts about vampires and it also has a chapter of letters. The letters are from people saying they're vampires and talking about some of the things they do. A lot of them are Wiccan, and besides drinking blood they lead normal lives. Very interesting.

Poems

Sedated tears.......
To a world that cares none the less
I look in to its eyes
A harsh reality in its light
Living with its lies
Knowing that this is wrong
And sometimes it is right
Still beneath all of this
I wander into your light
You can never hear or feel
All the nights alone
You can not see or feel
The rejection I have known
You did not see me there
Crying in the rain
The soft sweet shattering drops
Burning in my veins
You can not have my soul
It has already been taken away
By another unlike you
Who went another way
I was left here on my own to try and comprehend
Why God would be so cruel
Why he didn't send you when I needed a friend
A bitter coldness in my eyes
Runs down my face
Till it slows and numbs my heart
Tears are sorrow laced
You never want me to leave
But I feel the same
But how can I ever be gone
If I never came
Into this world that never cared
Who I was of what it'd be
Understand darkness and light
And soon you shall be free.

(C) X Poet96

A door just opened on a street-----
I, lost, was passing by---
An instant's width of warmth disclosed,
And wealth, and company.

The door as sudden shut, and I,
I, lost, was passing by,---
Lost doubly, but by contrast most,
Enlightening misery

Emily Dickinson

Fire and Ice, By Robert Frost

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But is I had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
It also great
And would suffice.

Music

[The Crow: City of Angels] Soundtrack

This came out sometime last week, and anyway I saw it, so I bought it. It's not as good as the first soundtrack. I'll be first to admit, that if it didn't have Hole I probably wouldn't have bought it. Okay well maybe I would have, I'm not sure. There are songs by White Zombie, Filter, PJ Harvey, Bush, Seven Mary three, Korn, Pet, NY Loose, and a bunch of others. I really like the White Zombie song [I'm Your Boogieman] and Pet's song [Lil' Boots]. Then of course there's [Gold Dust Woman]. The Filter song, [Jurassitol] is good too. There's some cool pictures and a nice foreword from some Crow archivist (whatever that is). I wonder how one would become a Crow archivist?? Okay, well I give it a 9.

Books

[The Witching Hour] by Anne Rice

This was the longest book I've ever read. It has 1043 (bible style) pages. It's about the Mayfair witches and spans four centuries. It starts off about this woman Rowan Mayfair. She's a brain surgeon and has the ability to kill people, by "wishing" them dead. It's sort of confusing and hard to explain. Then there's this guy Micheal Curry who almost drowned and that she saved. He touches things with his hands and can see everyone who's touched them before, so he wears gloves all the time. They fall in love. Then there's Mr. Lightner. He's an old man that knows everything about the Mayfair witches. It's a very involved story and that's just the first 200 pages. I would definately recommend this one. The next in the series are "Lasher" and "Taltos". This was a good book, a 9.

TV

[Cyberlife]

This show is on the Discovery channel and it's all about computers and the internet. They show all sorts of new games and brands of computers. It also talks about different web pages, some of them are interesting. But then there's a lot of boring ones. I did find this show to be very informative, and if you're interested in knowing more about computers and stuff, you should watch it. It was pretty interesting so I give it a 8.

Movies

[The Tommyknockers]

This was on a couple weeks ago, a movie of the week or something. It was on two nights, because it's four hours long. The book was written by Stephen King and the movie had Jimmy Smits (NYPD Blue). There was another red headed woman, but I don't know who she was. This woman started digging in the woods and found this green thing. She became obsessed with digging the whole thing up, because it was over powering her mind. Smits was her boyfriend, an alcohlic, and he was the only one in the whole town that wasn't affected by it. A little boy, a grandpa, and a dog disapeared. The people were slowly dying, and he even went far enough to pull out one of his teeth so they would think he was one of them. It was good, but in the end they saved the dog instead of the grandpa. Go figure. I give it a 7, because it really wasn't that scary.

Lyrics

[Israels Son] by Silverchair. Sent in by BIG GUY 82

Hate is what I feel for you
And I want you to know that I want you dead
You're late for the execution
If you're not here soon I'll kill your friend instead

All the pain I feel
?????????????????
All though i wouldn't like it too

I hate you and your apathy
You can leave you can leave
I don't want you here
I'm playin this pantomime
But I don't see you showing any signs of fear

All the pain I feel
???????????????????
All though I wouldn't like it too
This time I'm for real
My pain cannot heal
You will eat it when I'm through

Hate is what i feel for you
And I want you to know that I want you dead
You're late for the execution
If you're not here soon I'll kill your friend instead

All the pain I feel
??????????????????????
All though I wouldn't like it too
This time I'm for real
My pain cannot heal
You will eat it when I'm through

Hate and execution
Put your hands in the air
Put your hands in the air
Yeah

I am I am Israels son
Israels son I am
Put your hands in the air
Put your hands in the air
(screaming)

Advice Column

"My friend introduced me to this one guy and kept telling me that he acts like he likes me and we should hook up, blah, blah, blah. She went on and on about it. Then the next day she called me crying saying that he wanted to hook up with me. She was mad that he liked me and I liked him, but this is the same girl who said all that "ya I think he likes you" crap. But she has a guy now so what's her problem?? now nothing has happened between me and him becuz of her. He told my other friend to call him, but I'm afraid my other friend (the one who was crying) will find out and think I'm becoming "friends with her friends" and end up hating me. But I don't think she should have said that stuff about "us being perfect together" if she was gonna get mad about it..... what should I do???"

Send your responses in and I'll put them in next time. The advice column doesn't work if people don't reply.

5. Do you feel sorry for people like Robert Downey Jr. or Scott Weiland (STP) after they're caught using drugs???

It was pretty much divided equally between people that do feel sorry, don't feel sorry, and sort of feel sorry, for people like them that use drugs. I don't know if I feel sorry for them or not, it's just that it's a really sad situation to be in.

"Nope, because it was their choice to use drugs. They made that choice, and don't deserve pity."
~Supergerl

"Not at all. These people lead priveliged lives, and they're screwing them up by using drugs. What's to feel sorry for??"
~GregLucas

"People who make the strange decision to use drugs, famous or not, should not be derided or frowned upon, just helped out in any way possible....."
~JunkMagnet

6. If you knew it would work (100% sure) would you put a curse on someone you hate???

There were tons more yes' than there were no's and that's kind of scary when you think about it.

"A trailer. That's kind of like, "Do you want a cold beer or do you want to drink out of the toilet??"
~ B DAN B

10. For a million dollars would you let someone spy on you for a year??? Six months??

Tons of people said yes. Why?? I couldn't imagine someone spying on me for that long, or even at all. Two people said maybe, and there were a few no's.

"Heck no! I'd get really annoyed and have to beat them about the head, 'sides, I'd probably scare 'em away!"
~SuperGerl

"Yeah, but if I did it I would act really bad. Even worse than I act now just to scare the bejesus out of the guy."
~MrManson66
