Poems

Scream in the Night

You were just another scream in the night
You tried so hard to put up a fight
What was your's now belongs to him
He was just a stranger passing by
You told yourself you'd be safe while you told yourself a lie.
This wasn't supposed to happen to you
It's just something you can't handle
Now you're just a burned out candle
To the world you were just another scream in the night

(C) Tinkerbelle 1996

I wrote this one, it's kind of stupid, but nobody sent any poems in (hint, hint) so it's your fault. It's kind of fitting for the season though.

Summer Heat

It is in these hot days that the mad blood stirs
The summer sun begins to feel like a curse
It feels as if I'm living in hell
Where souls are not worth trying to sell
How I long for the crisp winter air
Days that you don't have to care
How I hate the summer heat
The dying flowers, no longer sweet.
The summer days they somewhat lack
When the sweat runs down my back
The days grow longer
My fear grows stronger
Will I live to see next year
When will I ever see my winter, so dear
I don't think I'll ever know
Will the summer heat ever go?

These are a few poems written by Langston Hughes, taken from "The Dream keeper and other poems".

The Dream Keeper

Bring me all of your dreams,
you dreamers,
Bring me all of your,
Heart melodies
That I may wrap them
In a blue cloud-cloth
Away from the too rough fingers
Of the world

Sea Calm

How still,
How strangely still
The water is today
It is not good
For water
To be so still that way

Poem

I loved my friend
He went away from me.
There's nothing more to say
The poems ends, Soft as it began---
I loved my friend

Reviews

TV

[Reel Wild Cinema]

I don't usually review TV shows, but this one is pretty strange. It's hosted by Sandra Bernhardt, on the USA Channel. This show has really strange versions of condensed movies from the 30's, 40's, and 50's. Some of these movies are so dumb and stupid they're actually funny. They usually pick a topic, and just show movies about it. It's unbelievable what kind of movies were made way back then. Some were considered porn back then, but are now an after school special. If you're looking for something crazy to watch really late at nite (about midnite or one o'clock. It depends where you live) then watch this. It's a 5.

Books

I just bought a book called [All These Years]. It's a biography about Tori Amos. Of course it was one of those really expensive ones, that are really small. It was worth it though, because it has a lot of pictures, and talks a lot about her life. One thing I didn't know was that she had another band and an album before she started on her own. They were called [Y Kant Tori Read]. Their first and only album was a flop, they were a hairspray band, and Rolling Stone called it "bimbo music". Anyway if you like Tori Amos I would recommend this book. Also you can check out the hundreds (and I do mean hundreds) of websites dedicated to her. It's a 10

Albums

[Little Earthquakes], by Tori Amos

What can I say I like her music. So what if I mention it a lot, okay all the time. Anyway this song is kinda like reading somebodys diary, because it's really bare. She comes out and talks about all the things that have happened to her. I like the songs "Silent All These Years", "Winter", "Crucify", "Girl", and "China". The song "Me and a Gun" is about her rape, and it's pretty sad. There's no music to it, just words. It's a really good album and I would recommend getting it. It's off the (as we in California would say) richter scale. Go buy this Now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Movies

[Independance Day]

I didn't see this movie, my friend did. And here's what she had to say.

Now this is a movie. This is the best movie I have seen this year. If you can only see one movie this summer, I suggest you see this one. I had to wait outside for an hour in 100 degree heat on the 4th of July to see it, but it was worth it. I really don't want to give away much of the movie, but it had everything. Great special effects and Will Smith was so funny in it. And trust me it was soo scary I jumped out of my seat a couple of times. I love it when the aliens blow up the white house and Will Smith punches out an alien. This movie makes you wonder what would happen if aliens invaded Earth. I have to give this movie a 10 in every catagory. (Good first date movie, not too mushy.)

Living in Las Vegas

What's it like living five minutes away from the strip? It may not seem as glamorous as it appears. Eventually the neon lights begin to piss you off. It's really a town for people who are obsessed with gambling. So unless you're 21, you get bored just like anywhere else. I've been living in Las Vegas for five years, and I wish I could move back to California where I belong. Vegas is a town that kind of sucks you in. Once you move there, you lose all your money, get a crappy job, see what terrible drivers there are, and eventually all the glitz and glamour wears off. But just like everywhere I guess Vegas has it's ups and downs. Gambling can be just as addictive as anything else. In fact for a while my dad had a little gambling problem. Trust me it doesn't do much for family life. I bet you're sick of me complaining about it, so I guess I'll tell you some good things. Going to the hotels on the strip can be fun, because at some of them there's more to do than just gambling. Some of my faves are: MGM, Treasure Island, Circus Circus, Mirage, and the Luxor. The two newest hotels are the Monte Carlo, and the still in progress, New York New York. But in Vegas there's always a new hotel being built, so it's no biggie. So what else is there to do besides hotels you ask? Not too much really. I guess Wet and Wild is really fun. It's a really huge water park, with awesome water slides. Skating is also a big thing in Vegas. Whether it's Skateboarding or Blading, It's a fun thing to do when you're bored. There's Lake Mead, but I don't really recommend that, except for the cliff diving. What do we do when we're not skating or going to hotels? We shop. Some trends in Vegas are:

1. Really bright colors (like neon green)
2. The skater look.
3. Lot's of rings (all kinds)
4. Steel Toed Doc Martins
5. Converse
6. Pastel nails
7. Nirvana shirts, Nirvana's also a largley popular band
8. Striped socks
9. Brightly colored dyed hair
10. Wallet Chains.

Basically they go through California and come to vegas. Things that aren't popular:
1. Green Day (sorry Billie Joe)
2. Overly baggy jeans
3. Name brand baby tees . (i.e. Goodgirl tires, and lifesavers, stupid crap like that)
4. Girls that don't wear make up
5. Guys with shaved sides
6. Scrunched hair
7. Pigtails
8. The Clueless look
9. Colored contacts
10. People that try too hard to be cool.

Remember these are all things in my opinion, but if you disagree with me, I don't care.

---- this was written by my friend from Vegas, Missy. She's 16, loves Nirvana and Hole, and if you had to use a label (which she's against) I guess she dresses like and acts like a skater, but doesn't skateboard, but roller blades. She has brown hair and hazel eyes.

Advice Column

Last weeks advice question was:

"I'm really into practicing magic, chanting, and meditating. I enjoy these activities, but hate to be into them alone. None of my friends are into this kind of stuff. How can I catch their interest??"

Okay so here's my advice. You can't really make your friends like those kinds of things. Sometimes people are just afraid of what they don't understand. You should give them some books to read (if you have any) that will help them understand. They might just find some of the things mentioned in them exciting. If you don't have any books you can explain some of the things to them. Remember just because they don't like the same things you do, you shouldn't be angry with them. Maybe you could try some things they like and they would do the same for you. *** By the way, just because your problems may not seem that big, you can still send them in. No problem's too small. Try it. It can't hurt.

Lyrics

[Until It Sleeps], by Metallica

This was send to me by BIG GUY 82. If you have any lyrics to songs send them in and I'll print them.

Where do I take this pain of mine
I run but it stays right by my side
So tear me open pour me out
Theres things inside that scream and shout
And the pain still hates me
So hold me until it sleeps

Just like the curse just like the stray
You feed it once and now it stays
Now it stays
So tear me open but beware
Theres things inside without a care
And the dirt still stains me
So wash me until I'm clean

It grips you so hold me
It stains you so hold me
It hates you so hold me
It holds you so hold me
Until it sleeps

So tell me why you've chosen me
Don't want your grip don't want your greed
Don't want it
I'll tear me open make you gone
No more can you hurt anyone
And the fear still shakes me
So hold me until it sleeps

It grips you so hold me
It stains you so hold me
It hates you so hold me
It holds you so hodld me
Until it sleeps

I don't want it
I don't want it
Want it
Want it
Want it
Want it
No

So tear me open but beware
There's things inside without a care
And the dirt still stains me
So wash me till I'm clean

I'll tear me open make you gone
No longer will you hurt anyone
And the hate still shapes me
So hold me until it sleeps
